Birch Water Tropical Smoothie Bowls
Looking for a healthy dessert? Sad your tropical vacation is cancelled due to Covid-19? Reminiscing about that smoothie bowl you had on the North Shore of Oahu? We have the perfect recipe for you—palm trees and white sand beaches…optional.
This smoothie bowl is a hybrid between nice cream and a tropical smoothie. It’s great for those who don’t like the taste of bananas but crave a cold non-dairy ice-cream alternative. No need to head to the grocery store to buy ice cream, simply freeze a few ripe bananas sitting on your counter. The addition of ginger is what makes this smoothie bowl easily palatable. Ginger is also a super beneficial ingredient because it aids digestion, reduces inflammation, and helps improve cardiovascular health.
This smoothie bowl is blended with birch water instead of your typical coconut cream or coconut water. Many nice creams are made with coconut cream, the thick creamy part in a can of coconut milk. Although it makes for an extra rich nice cream, it also adds a lot of unnecessary fat. Coconut water on the other hand is naturally very high in sugar, since bananas and fruit already have a lot of natural sugar, this smoothie bowl doesn’t need an extra dose of sugar from coconut water—enter birch water, the low carb alternative to coconut water.
Many don't know that sap has a lower freezing temperature than water. This means when you mix birch sap with frozen fruit it won't crystallize immediately, resulting in a dreamy, smooth, and ice crystal free smoothie bowl.
