Get Outside: Open-Air Therapy

Get Outside: Open-Air Therapy

Hi Everyone!

We wanted to write this blog post to discuss the importance of getting outside when you’re feeling under the weather. No this doesn’t mean go freeze your bum off when you feel like you’re about to faint with a pounding headache—please seek medical attention if you feel faint.

Instead of being coped up at home, we encourage you to get outside: for a brisk walk around the neighbourhood, or discover a local trail or hike.

In 1918 during the Spanish Flu, doctors found that patients who were nursed outdoors recovered better than those treated indoors. Research shows that outdoor air is a natural disinfectant. Fresh air can kill the flu virus and other harmful germs. Equally, sunlight is germicidal and there is now evidence it can kill the flu virus. Read more about this study here
